Upcoming Features of iPhone 14

Apple’s ProMotion technology, which features a super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, is expected to make its way to the whole iPhone 14 lineup.

Display of the iPhone 14

It is expected that the iPhone 14 to match – or even outperform – the iPhone 13 in terms of display. Upto three devices might obtain 120Hz LTPO displays, similar to those featured on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants tweeted a graphic in September 2021 that appeared to expose the iPhone 14 display specs in their entirety. Here’s the gist of it:

  • iPhone 14 — 6.06-inch OLED screen with 1170 x 2532 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and 460 pixels per inch.
  • iPhone 14 Max — 6.68-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and a pixel density of 458 pixels per inch.
  • iPhone 14 Pro — 6.06-inch OLED screen with a 1–120Hz variable refresh rate and 460 pixels per inch, with 1170 x 2532 pixels resolution.
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max — 6.68-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels, a refresh rate of 1–120Hz, and a pixel density of 458 pixels per inch.

He has a good track record for iPhone leaks, so he might be right on this one. If that’s the case, both iPhone 14 Pro models will include 120Hz variable refresh panels, which will give a quicker frame rate when needed while preserving battery life when not.

iPhone design

The iPhone 14 Pro models will be different, with speculation of a punch-hole front camera. The Pro variants are believed to have a pill-shaped cutout beneath the display. The protruding rear camera in the next iPhone will be flush with the phone’s back.Displays are all OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and come in various sizes.

Cameras features

  • On normal versions, there is a dual camera.
  • On Pro models, there’s a triple camera.

The Apple iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max both contain a triple rear camera, which includes a main wide sensor, an ultra-wide sensor, and a telephoto sensor, and this system is projected to last until 2022.

The iPhone 14 Pro will include a wide-angle camera with a 1/1.3-inch 48MP CMOS image sensor and 8K video recording capabilities.

Over the iPhone 14 ordinary versions, the iPhone 14 Pro models continue to include an extra lens and capabilities such as Macro and ProRES. It’s unknown what might change in 2022, although it’s sure to be better than the 2021 models.

With Apple’s adoption of 5G in both iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, it’s safe to assume that all iPhone 14 devices will be 5G compatible.According to a February report, the iPhone 14 lineup will benefit from a new, less-power-hungry 5G processor, which will boost battery life dramatically. 6nm 5G processor would be physically smaller and consume less power, providing a double benefit in battery life: a smaller chip equals more battery space, but the chip itself would consume less power.

A15/A16 chip

The iPhone 14 is predicted to have a better chip than the iPhone 13 — given that the 13 has the new A15. This could be Apple’s first 4nm chip, as the A15 is 5nm. Fewer processes minimise chip footprint while improving efficiency, performance, and battery life – in other words, the smaller the nm, the better.

The A16 Bionic chip is also anticipated to power the iPhone 14 Pro versions, provided Apple sticks to its chip set naming conventions. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max both had an additional core for their GPU, and the iPhone 14 Pro versions may include one, helping to distinguish them from the normal devices.

The normal iPhone 14 models will keep the A15 chip from the iPhone 13 models, while the iPhone 14 Pro versions will get the A16 chip, a wider difference than the iPhone 13 models.

iOS 16 Hardware and software

iOS 16 will be the next big software release, and we anticipate learning more about it in June 2022, when Apple conducts its annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).

With the iPhone 13 Pro models offering 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage, It is expected that the iPhone 14 Pro models to offer the same. However, it’s been speculated that the Pro versions may start at 256GB. All variants will have 6GB of RAM, according to reports.

Additional Specifications

A 6.1-inch display will be available on the Apple iPhone 14 and Apple iPhone 14 Pro. The Apple iPhone 14 Max and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a 6.7-inch display. Furthermore, both Pro models will include a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate. The notch will be replaced with a hole punch and a pill-shaped cutout in the top centre for Face ID sensors and the front camera on the Pro models.
